Remove the "Powered by Chat Thing" branding
Turn off the "Powered by Chat Thing" footer so the chat shows only your own branding.
Standard, Pro and Enterprise
Removing the branding is included on the Standard, Pro and Enterprise plans. On Free and Basic the toggle is greyed out. See Compare plans to upgrade.
Who can do this: team owners and admins.
Steps
- Open your bot and select the Channels tab.
- Click the settings (cog) icon on the Web card.
- In the Appearance & branding section, turn on Remove Chat Thing branding?.
- Click Update settings.
You don't need to change the embed code on your website. The change applies straight away.
What changes
With the toggle on, the "Powered by Chat Thing" footer is removed from:
- the chat widget and iframe embeds on your website
- your bot's own page (the Open bot link)
- shared conversation links, which otherwise show "Chat transcript powered by Chat Thing"
There's no setting to replace the footer with your own text or logo. To make the chat look more like your own product, you can also:
- set your own colours and upload your own bot icon - see Change how the widget looks
- serve the chat from your own domain, such as
chat.example.com, instead ofchatthing.ai- see Use a custom domain
Check it works
Open your website (or click Open bot) and reload the page. The "Powered by Chat Thing" line at the bottom of the chat should be gone.
Troubleshooting
The toggle is greyed out
Your team is on the Free or Basic plan. The page shows "Removing Chat Thing branding is only available on Standard, Pro & Enterprise plans". Upgrade your team's plan from Billing, then come back and turn the toggle on.
The branding still shows on my website
Check you clicked Update settings after turning the toggle on. Then reload your site in a private or incognito window, in case your browser or site cache is showing an old copy of the page.
