Manage billing and your plan
Each team has its own plan and its own subscription. You manage it on the Billing page. This page covers how billing works, how to upgrade, downgrade or cancel, where to find invoices, and what happens to your bots when your plan changes.
Only the team owner can manage billing
Who can do this: the team owner. The Billing page is only available to the owner. If you have another role, ask the owner to make the change.
How billing works
- There are five plans: Free, Basic, Standard, Pro and Enterprise. Compare what each includes. Prices are listed below and on the pricing page.
- Paid plans are billed monthly or annually.
- Payments are handled by Stripe.
- Your message tokens and storage tokens are a monthly allowance. They reset on the 1st of each calendar month (UTC), whatever date you subscribed. Unused tokens don't roll over.
- Add-ons raise individual limits and are billed on the same frequency as your plan.
Plan prices
| Plan | Monthly | Annually |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | Free |
| Basic | $14 a month | $140 a year ($11.67 a month) |
| Standard | $49 a month | $490 a year ($40.83 a month) |
| Pro | $99 a month | $990 a year ($82.50 a month) |
| Enterprise | $299 a month | $2,990 a year ($249.17 a month) |
Prices are in US dollars (USD) and exclude applicable taxes. Paying annually costs the same as 10 months, so you get two months free (about 17% off).
Add-ons are charged on top of your plan, on the same billing frequency.
Subscribe to a paid plan
- Go to Billing. You can also select Upgrade plan at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Under Available plans, choose Monthly or Annually.
- Select Subscribe on the plan you want.
- Complete payment in Stripe checkout. You can enter a promotion code there.
- You're returned to the billing page, which shows Checkout complete once payment goes through.
If you leave checkout without paying, you see Payment cancelled and you haven't been charged.
Change your plan
Use this to upgrade, downgrade, or switch between monthly and annual billing.
- Go to Billing and find Available plans.
- Choose Monthly or Annually.
- Select Change plan on the plan you want. Your current plan shows Current plan.
- Check the confirmation. The new plan's price is prorated and charged immediately.
- Confirm. You're taken to the Stripe billing portal, where you can check the change.
Plan changes, including downgrades, take effect straight away. You're charged (or credited) the prorated difference for the rest of your billing period. If the payment fails, the change doesn't go through.
What happens when you move to a smaller plan
- Nothing is deleted. Your bots, data sources, team members and conversations stay, and existing bots keep working.
- You can't add more than the new plan allows. If you're over a limit (for example, more bots than the plan includes), you can't create new ones until you're back under it or you buy an add-on.
- Features not in the new plan switch off. For example, moving below Standard turns off branding removal, automatic syncing, extra channels and human takeover. Moving to Free turns off power-ups.
- Your token allowance changes immediately to the new plan's allowance for the current month.
Cancel your subscription
- Go to Billing.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- Choose a Cancellation reason, add a few details, and select Next.
- Select Continue cancellation.
- You'll see Cancellation complete and the date your plan runs until.
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. When it ends:
- Your team moves to the Free plan.
- All add-ons end, including the voice add-on if you have one.
- Your bots, data sources and conversations are kept, but only Free plan features work. For example, power-ups stop, and new bots and data sources are limited to Free plan numbers.
To delete your data rather than keep it on the Free plan, delete your bots, or delete your account.
Invoices and payment details
Select Manage subscription on the Billing page to open the Stripe billing portal. Invoices, receipts and payment details are managed there.
Check it works
The Current plan card at the top of the billing page shows your plan name. Next to it, Max chatbots, Data sources, Storage tokens and Message tokens show your current limits, including add-ons.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the Billing page
Only the team owner can see Billing. Check you've switched to the right team in the team switcher, and ask the owner if you aren't them.
I upgraded but my limits haven't changed
Refresh the billing page after checkout. The page waits for Stripe to confirm the payment; if it shows Payment pending, your plan updates once the payment clears.
Can I cancel and come back later?
Yes. When your paid plan ends, your bots and data are kept on the Free plan. Subscribe again from Available plans whenever you're ready.
