**Try it live. Press the call button to talk**

**Setup **

## **Live in three steps **

1. **1**### **Turn it on**

Open your bot's web channel settings and switch on Voice calls. A call button appears beside the message box on every page the widget is embedded on.
2. **2**### **Pick a voice**

Choose from thirteen voices and press play to hear each one. Chat Thing drafts voice instructions from your system prompt so the agent sounds like your brand, and you can edit them any time.
3. **3**### **Take the call**

Visitors press the button, allow their microphone, and talk. Your agent answers from its data sources and power-ups, speaks the answer, and drops the transcript into the chat when the call ends.

**Feels like talking to a person **

## **Interrupt it. Correct it. Switch language mid-call. **

Built on OpenAI's GPT Live voice model. The voices and the turn-taking are OpenAI's; the knowledge and the actions are your agent's.

- ### **Interrupt it any time**

Talk over the agent and it stops mid-sentence and listens.
- ### **No dead air**

While it looks something up, it says so, then speaks the answer as it arrives.
- ### **Corrections just work**

“Actually, make that eleven.” The new request replaces the old one.
- ### **Speaks the caller's language**

Follows the caller across twenty languages, or sticks to the one you choose.

**Where talking wins **

## **Where a spoken question beats a typed one **

Anything your agent can answer or do in text, it can now do on a call. These are the conversations where talking wins.

### **Bookings and appointments**

Studios, salons, clinics, venues

> *"Is the daylight studio free on the 18th at ten, and can I add the backdrop pack?" *

Checks availability from your data, quotes the price, and files the booking enquiry through a power-up - then confirms it back out loud.

![Illustration for property and lettings](https://chatthing.ai/_marketing/property.BGZBydDQ.webp)

### **Property and lettings**

Estate and letting agents

> *"Any two-bed flats near the harbour under two thousand a month with parking?" *

Searches your listings, reads out the matches, and offers to book a viewing or send the details by email.

![Illustration for ecommerce support](https://chatthing.ai/_marketing/ecommerce.Gh4jJNIe.webp)

### **Ecommerce support**

Online stores

> *"Where's my order, and can I still change the delivery address?" *

Looks up the order through your API power-up, explains the options, and hands off to a person in text if a change needs approval.

![Illustration for hospitality and restaurants](https://chatthing.ai/_marketing/hospitality.B5GdwBwn.webp)

### **Hospitality and restaurants**

### **Home and trade services**

Plumbers, electricians, cleaners, movers

> *"My boiler's making a banging noise, can someone come out tomorrow morning?" *

Triages from your FAQs, captures the address and problem, and creates the job request so a human can confirm the slot.

### **Software and SaaS support**

Product and support teams

> *"I'm on the billing page and can't find where to add a seat." *

Uses the page context your SDK shares to answer for the screen the visitor is on, and can run a website power-up to open the right form.

**Tuned by you **

## **Sounds like your brand, answers like your agent **

Pick a voice and preview it in the dashboard. Chat Thing drafts voice instructions from your system prompt so the tone on a call matches the tone in text, and you edit them any time. Choose the spoken language, how long answers run, and how long calls last.

- ### **Grounded answers**

The voice never guesses. Every fact and action goes through your agent, so a call is as accurate as the text chat it shares a conversation with.
- ### **Honest handoff**

If one of your team takes the conversation over, the voice says so and hands back to text. Callers are never left waiting for a person to join the line.
- ### **Works everywhere the widget does**

Your site, custom domains and SDK embeds. Developers can even pick a different voice per embed.

**Website voice and phone support **

## **Start a conversation right on your website **

Visitors can talk in the chat widget with the agent you've already built. The same agent can answer your business phone, using the same knowledge, power-ups and shared voice minutes.

| | **Chat Thing voice calls ** | **Phone-based voice agents ** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Where it runs** | In your web chat, on any page the widget is on. No phone number, no telephony setup. | On a phone number you provision, or behind a call button that dials out. |
| **What it knows** | Your existing agent: data sources, power-ups, welcome message, conversation history. | Usually a separate agent you build and keep in sync. |
| **Text and voice** | One conversation. Type, then talk, then type again; the transcript stays in the chat. | A call is its own thing; the chat doesn't know it happened. |
| **Pricing** | $10 for 60 minutes a month per pack, on top of a paid Chat Thing plan. Shared by every bot, no automatic overages. | Typically $0.10 to $1.50 a minute plus telephony, billed on usage. |
| **Handoff** | Says so out loud and hands back to text, where your team already works. | Transfers the call or takes a message. |

**Pricing **

## **Billed in minutes, shared by your team **

One pack is 60 minutes a month for $10, shared across every bot on your team. Available on any paid Chat Thing plan. Stack packs for more. When minutes run out, callers are asked to continue in text - never a surprise bill.

**Launch offer: your first 60 minutes for $5, then $10/month. Once per eligible team; additional packs are $10 each. **

Voice renews monthly, even on annual plans. Reasoning and power-ups also use your plan's message tokens. Phone answering requires Standard or above and a $5/month number. Prices exclude applicable taxes.

**How much do voice calls cost?**

Voice calls are a separate monthly add-on on any paid Chat Thing plan. Each pack is $10 a month for 60 minutes, shared across your team's web and phone calls. During the launch offer, eligible teams save $5 on their first voice invoice: $5 for one pack, then $10/month. The discount applies once per team; extra packs are full price. Stack packs for more minutes. Reasoning and power-ups also use your plan's message tokens.

**What happens when we run out of minutes?**

Visitors can't start a new call until your next renewal, and they're told to continue in text. There are no automatic overage charges.

**Does the voice know everything my bot knows?**

Yes. A call uses the same data sources, power-ups and conversation history as text chat. The voice agent handles the conversation and asks your bot for answers and actions.

**Can a person join a voice call?**

No. If one of your team takes over, the voice tells the caller and the conversation continues in text chat.

**Is this a phone agent?**

Not this part. Web voice calls happen in the browser through the chat widget, so there's no phone number, telephony or dialler to set up. If you need inbound phone answering, the same bot can do that too on the phone channel: see the AI receptionist page. Both draw on the same voice minutes.

**Is this an AI receptionist?**

For your website, yes: it greets visitors, answers from your knowledge, takes bookings and enquiries through power-ups, and hands off to your team in text. For your phone line, turn on the phone channel and the same bot answers calls, transfers to your team and takes messages.

**Which voice model powers the calls?**

OpenAI's GPT Live voice model handles the spoken conversation: the voices, the listening and the turn-taking, including interruptions. Everything it says about your business comes from your own Chat Thing agent, its data sources and power-ups.

**Which browsers are supported?**

Any modern desktop or mobile browser with microphone access. Visitors are asked for permission when they start a call.
