# Bot settings

Bot settings control how your bot thinks and behaves once it has its knowledge: the instructions it follows, the AI model it uses, limits that protect your tokens, and tools for testing, copying and automating it. Most settings live in your bot's **General settings** tab.

## Most common tasks

- [Write your bot's instructions](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/instructions)
- [Choose your bot's AI model](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/models)
- [Limit how many tokens your bot can use](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/usage-limits)
- [Look up what a setting does](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/settings-reference)

## In this section

- [Write your bot's instructions](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/instructions): Write the prompt that sets your bot's role, topics, tone, answer length, language, power-up use and handoff, with before-and-after examples.
- [Prompt library](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/prompt-library): Copy-paste starting prompts for support, sales, bookings, onboarding, internal helpdesks and more, plus building blocks to add to any prompt.
- [Choose your bot's AI model](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/models): See which AI models your bot can use, what each supports, how model choice affects message token use, and how to change it.
- [Bot settings reference](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/settings-reference): Every setting on your bot's General settings tab - what it does, its default and range, and which plans include it.
- [Limit how many tokens your bot can use](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/usage-limits): Cap a bot's daily message token use, get an email before it hits the cap, limit message length, and see what people see when a limit is reached.
- [Test your bot's answers](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/test-your-bot): Create test cases with checks for facts, similarity, requirements, relevance and power-up use, then run them to catch wrong answers before users do.
- [Duplicate a bot](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/duplicate-a-bot): Make a copy of a bot with its settings, and choose whether to include its data sources, channels, tasks, power-ups, webhooks and test cases.
- [Schedule tasks for your bot](https://chatthing.ai/docs/bot-settings/scheduled-tasks): Have your bot carry out a task on a schedule, such as a weekly summary or a daily check, using its knowledge and power-ups.
