# Password Protect Your Agents
**Not every agent should be public. Maybe it has access to internal docs. Maybe it's for paying customers only. Maybe you're still testing.**
Chat Thing lets you password protect any agent in one click.

## How to add a password
1. Go to your agent's Settings
2. Go to Channels
3. Enable "Require a password"
4. Enter your password
5. Save
Now anyone who opens your agent on the web will need to enter the password before they can start chatting.
A quick note: password protection applies to the web channel, so it covers your agent's hosted page and the embeddable chat widget. It does not apply to other channels your agent might be connected to, like WhatsApp, Slack, or Discord.]

## When to use it
- **Internal company agents** with sensitive data
- **Client agents** you're building for someone else
- **Beta agents** you're still testing
- **Premium content agents** for paid members only

Simple feature, but useful when you need it. Your sensitive agents stay private until you're ready to share them.
