# Your Agent Speaks 50+ Languages (Even If You Don't)
Did you know your Chat Thing agent can respond in whatever language your users message in?
You don't need to do anything special. No translation settings. No language packs. It just works.
## How it works
The AI models powering your agent (GPT-4, Claude, etc.) are trained on text from all over the world. When someone messages in French, your agent responds in French. Spanish? Spanish. Japanese? Yep.
Even if your data sources are all in English, your agent can translate its answers into the user's language on the fly.

## Pro tip
If you want to force a specific language, add it to your system prompt: "Always respond in English, regardless of the language the user writes in."

Your agent can also display its interface in different languages. In your [web channel settings](https://chatthing.ai/docs/web-channel), you can change the UI language - so buttons, placeholders, and system messages all appear in your users' preferred language.
